United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs
Combatting the Rising Influence of Organised Crime in Southeast Europe with Special Emphasis on Narcoterrorism
The United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (UNCND) aims to assist Member States in building their capacity and including appropriate criminal justice reforms to respect the rule of law, as well as protect and ensure legal rights that individuals and groups enjoy under domestic and international law. While transnational organised crime affects every country in the world, the nature of illicit markets and their impact differs from region to region. Southeast Europe is no exception as transnational organised crime and corruption have continuously plagued the countries.
The magnitude of the organized crime phenomenon in southeastern Europe, the presence of well- established networks, and the huge profits obtained through organized criminal activities -- especially drug trafficking, the financial backbone of most criminal organizations -- all make organized crime and narcotics dealing very attractive activities for terrorists and terrorist groups. The committee allows delegates to vocalise their opinions and ideas regarding the solution and the problem of the influence of crime.
The agenda of the committee of UNCND at Strawberry Fields High School Model United Nations Conference 2022 is Combatting the Rising Influence of Organised Crime in Southeast Europe with Special Emphasis on Narcoterrorism.
